Fuel Surcharge Fee

Row of ARC containers.

ARC Disposal charges a fuel surcharge fee in order to insure that our overall pricing is responsive to the volatile nature of today's fuel and energy marketplace. The amount of the fuel surcharge is based on your total cubic yards of service for Commercial service (solid waste and recycling), and is a 'per box' fee on your Industrial/Rolloff service.

The monthly fuel surcharge is based on the price of diesel fuel in the Chicago metro market around the calendar day that our billing statements are mailed for both services. The fee is designed to allow ARC Disposal to achieve an acceptable operating margin associated with our collection, transfer, landfill operations, and material recovery facilities.

Environment Recovery Fee

The environmental recovery fee is the other component of ARC Disposal's standard monthly surcharge fee, and is established at 4% of the monthly flat rate charge for Commercial service. For Industrial services the fee represents 4% of the combined hauling and disposal/tonnage charges.

This fee recovers certain regulatory and compliance expenses incurred operating our facilities (collection, transfer, landfill, material recovery, and landfill to gas energy) in an environmentally safe manner. It is designed to allow ARC Disposal to achieve an acceptable operating margin.
